Ladies and Gentlemen welcome to the Portuguese Presidents Palace in Cascais!

This restored royal residence is known for its elegant interiors and its sweeping bay views enjoyed from the turn of the century veranda.
Initially this was the official home of the commander of the Cidadela. In the end of the 19th century King Dom Luis transformed the palace to the summer residence of the Royal family, a tradition that was maintained by the last Portuguese King Dom Carlos, who studied the oceans and installed the first maritime biology laboratory here in 1896.
With the proclamation of the Portuguese Republic in 1910 the palace became one of the official residencies of the Presidents of the Republic and served as such until the 1960 when it was closed only to open again to the public in 2011.

The APTF is happy and proud to announce that the Portuguese Presidency has generously accepted to welcome the 10th CPLOL Congress welcome reception to take place in the Palace.

Please remember to wear your badge.

Note: Should the President of the Republic request the palace for official use on the date of our welcome reception we will change the location.

How to reach the Palácio da Presidência Cidadela Cascais:

The palace is located inside the Cidadela fortess that only has one entrance from the Avenida Dom Carlos in central Cascais. The fortess is located on a high point overlooking the yacht harbour and Cidadela beach and hotel.

CONGRESS DINNER | Friday, 11 May 2018

Join us for the Celebration of the 30th anniversary of CPLOL and the 40th anniversary of the local host association APTF.

The Palácio Estoril Hotel - A hotel where history is made.

Royalties, Spies and Movie stars all met at the Hotel Palacio and in May 2018 May this will be the setting for CPLOL to celebrate its 20th Anniversary together with the APTF 40th Anniversary.
The hotel was built in 1930, the hotel retains many of the characteristics of that period with an ambience of timeless sophistication, beautiful gardens and an elegant classic decor updated over the years but not losing its charm.
During the Second World War, due to Portugal's neutrality several royal families went into exile in Estoril, known as the "Coast of Kings". The Palácio Estoril was the second home of the Spanish, Italian, French, Bulgarian and Romanian royal families but not only … it became the haunt of British and German spies, who could often be found in its bar.
Later, the stories of intrigue and espionage inspired famous novelists and filmmakers and the Hotel served as the set for the James Bond movie "On Her Majesty's Secret Service". It is also believed that Ian Fleming got the inspiration to his first book “Casino Royale” when staying at the Hotel Palacio.

Dinner guests will be welcomed at the garden gate and the three course dinner including beverages is served in the ball room overlooking the same.

Please remember to wear your badge.

Cost per person: 67,00 EUR
(on site ticket purchase will have a cost of 75€ per person)
