Submission Guidelines

Abstract Guidelines

The following guidelines are provided to assist you to submit your abstract. Please follow the instructions when completing the abstract form. Abstracts can only be submitted online.

Papers and posters submitted for presentation at the CPLOL congress should not have been previously published as a complete paper in an international journal.

New reports in the field of speech & language therapy are welcome for presentation, and reports previously published as an abstract or as a full paper in a national journal or presented previously at a national meeting are also permissible.

Abstracts or papers and posters that report on scientific work, new clinical and practical developments and perspectives, but also case reports that demonstrate important insights for clinicians are eligible for acceptance.

The abstracts submitted for the workshops may include all requirements mentioned above and/or also may be devoted to introducing new therapy/ teaching materials and approaches and/or address a particular problem. Expert workshops may be designed to train participants in a particular practical intervention method. The allocated time for the workshop is 40 minutes.

Contributions addressing the congress theme “The effectiveness of SLT: science and practice” are particularly welcome.

The language of the congress is English, however as CPLOL is a bilingual organisation, the programme, congress information and all abstracts will be available in both English and French.
Abstracts may be submitted in English or French. Please note that simultaneous interpretation of presentations will not be provided during the Congress.
There is a limit of two presentations (oral, poster or workshop) for a single presenter. This however does not exclude the opportunity to be a co-author in an unlimited number of abstracts.

You are asked to select your presentation preference: Oral presentation, Poster or Expert workshop. Please let us know which one you prefer, but please keep in mind that we cannot guarantee an oral presentation or workshop.

After completing the information about the corresponding author, please provide the system with details of your co-authors, if applicable.

You are asked to select a topic (child language disorders/ child non-language disorders/ adults, elderly language disorders/ adults, elderly non-language disorders/ Initial Education).

The title should be as brief as possible, but long enough to indicate clearly the nature of the study.

The abstract content should be organised as follows:

Review process

All abstracts will be reviewed for their quality and relevance anonymously by the Scientific Committee. If an abstract is not accepted for oral presentation, it is possible that the authors may instead be invited to present their work as a poster.
